Langkawa-Veteran's Day 2013

We hit the beach and headed to Langkawi for some uninteruptted family time.  Langkawi is known for its beaches and great natural surroundings and lots of stuff for the amateur biologist.  We skipped all the naturalist stuff because squeaky is too young and focused on good old fashioned fun in the water and sun.

Here are the best photos of the weekend:

Taken right after the above photo.

KL-the months of September and (most of) October)!

Here is a picture of Simone on her 8 month birthday:

and her 9 month birthday:

Well we are continuing to love KL for its good food, friendly people, and malls.  Yes malls are everywhere and have everything you may need.  Carters baby clothes are about 3 times the cost (thank you mail ordering), but it is nice.

Work has been nuts-we were supposed to get the President, but he canceled the trip due to the shutdown.  We got Secretary Kerry instead, which is certainly still a lot of work.

Also we have already had visitors-Laura and Tomas here-twice!  We also got a visit from Gabriel, al the leway from Pceru!  We are looking forward to many more visitors.

Squeaky continues to grow in leaps and bounds.  She is moving around, can stand and sit up using the couch, table, our legs, etc.  New sounds include mamamama, a loud "BAH" to get our attention, and a acck sound that comes from one of her little friends Jensen.

We have also found some friends her age and are trying to do playgroups.  One is Cyrus, whose mom was in language class with me and also pregnant (and also from NY, married to an Indian guy, has a little brother named Matt) and the other is Leah (pronounced like Leia) whose parents just came a month after we did.

Below are some of the highlights of the past September through mid October.

I love my piano
Our neighbors have older kids and Simone has become the beneficiary of their cleaning out the house.  She especially loves thiss piano which lights up and plays catchy songs (Vegas sounding row, row, row your boat anyone?)   You can see the evolution in her playing with this from laying on it to using it to stand up!
